“To reach a port we must sail, sometimes with the wind,
and sometimes against it.
But we must not drift or lie at anchor.”
One of the most amazing trips I have ever taken in my whole life: a week on a houseboat! How awesome does this sound? And yes, in fact it was! A boat you could drive even without a license (but we had 2 super captains though!) and sail on the smaller rivers of North Italy.
From Casal Sul Sile to Venice, through the main Canal up to Padova center sailing on the little rivers of the Brenta and being surrounded by a wonderful late summer landscape! How not to be charmed by the colorful Burano and the perfect glass statues of Murano, but also the Villas on the riversides, the calm morning when you could have your breakfast listening to the birds chirping in the trees around.. Small towns we did not even knew existed such as Casier, Mira, Dolo or Strà (where there is litterally nothing).
Still a warm weather, with a wonderful blue sky following us during the whole trip; except for a night in Venice when we had hail and took a vaporetto back to our island and we could see nothing but darkness! So many great experiences, with some of the best people I know in the whole world. I would do it all over many many times!
