“My dream is to walk around the world.
A smallish backpack, all essentials neatly in place.
A camera. A notebook. A traveling paint set. A hat. Good shoes.”
Sperlonga is the town of the thousand stairs: built on a hill, it takes like 10 minutes of stairs walking to get on the main square, which by the way, is amazing and full of life! It’s like stairs everywhere! Sperlonga is best known for the ancient Roman sea grotto discovered in the grounds of the Villa of Tiberius containing the important and spectacular Sperlonga sculptures which are wonderful.
We found an amazing camping (where we surely will go back next year for more than only one night!) with direct access to the beach! We put on our tent in a cool spot, (hell yeah the Decathlon Fresh&Black is the best tent ever: no light or heat coming in, so in the morning you can sleep until late just like I did, believing it was only 8 am, it was almost 11!) and went for a lovely afternoon walk through the beach, straight up to the main streets! How amazing, we were blown away! The town was full of people, still a lot of tourists all around, getting aperitives and gelato.
The next one was a perfect vacation day with a delicious cappuccino+cornetto and a walk in the sand for the morning breakfast, another tour around the little streets which was like walking around in a labirinth and then a quick lunch… It was so sad to go back home.
