"This used to be my playground..."
Around my home in Budapest there are quite a few services and great, useful places for those living in the area: in front, there is the kindergarden where me and my brother used to go to, a small shop where we still buy the morning danish and “zsömle“, etc. I have always loved these places and have great memories of and with them: but the place I have always loved more is the playground, although only the sport court has stayed unchanged for the last 20 years.
The other part has been removed since it was old and not ok with the current european regulations and safety normatives, they dated back to 1978-1980 and were made of metal. I guess it was to be expected they would have been removed or updated sooner or later. On the other side, the tennis and soccer “fields” remained: the tennis “court” has been turned into a basketball ground and it is great to see it often occupied. We usually went there with my Dad and brother to play tennis without a net, in the mid-1990’s. I used to suck really bad but yet had a lot of fun and always wanted to be better than my borther who used to train at the Roland Garros in Paris… Then, after us went the neighborghs from the first floor and the dad always yelled at the little boy, like he was no good at anything. At the time, older kids would play soccer on the other field.
It would be nice to go back in time even for a few hours, maybe just the time of a game…
